Invitation to Share Your Story During Read-a-Thon
Dear Solana Highlands Families,
Our annual Read-a-Thon is coming up the week of October 13–17, and this year’s theme is “Read Into Your Future: Who Will You Become?” As part of the celebration, we’d love for you to help inspire our students by sharing your story; either in person or on video!
Two Ways to Participate
Visit Your Child’s Class
We’re inviting 2–3 parents per class to visit during their child’s Media Center time and share their journey. Talks are about 5 minutes and should include:
- What you dreamed of becoming as a child
- A favorite childhood book that inspired you
- What you do today (career, passion, or community role)
- One piece of advice for the students
Talks should be short, casual, and fun. Props, photos, or a favorite book are welcome!
Record a Short Video (1–2 minutes)
For families, alumni, and community members, you can also record a quick video to be shared with students. Keep it warm and simple, and include the same points as above. Please film horizontally in good lighting and save as MP4 or MOV.
How to Sign Up or Submit
- Classroom visits: Email president@solanahighlandspta.org by October 6. Spots are first-come, and you must be Raptor-approved.
- Videos: Upload to Google Drive by October 8: Upload Here, or email president@solanahighlandspta.org.

Mom’s Night Out

Calling all Solana Highlands moms to join and meet and mingle with other moms in a chill environment.
Read A Thon, Oct 13-17
The traditional fundraising event of the year in which our students “read a thon”, raise fund through family and friends, while taking prizes home for the winning classes and individuals.
Fall Festival, Oct 23
Organized by the PTA
Come celebrate fall with us. Families can enjoy interactive booths and fun games. It’s the perfect way to spend the evening together! Don’t miss out on the fun!
Food will be available for purchase.
