Get Ready for the “Camp Out with a Book” Read-a-Thon!
We’re so excited to announce our upcoming “Camp Out with a Book” Read-a-Thon from October 14-18! This fun event encourages our students to read while raising funds for our school—and we’ve got a fantastic week of activities lined up to make it even more exciting!
For one whole week, students will “camp out” with their favorite books, dress up according to our daily themes, and enjoy fun activities focused on the love of reading. They’ll set goals to read as much as they can and track their reading minutes each day. Be sure to check the flyers for all the dress-up days and fun details!
Here’s how it works:
- What is the Read-a-Thon?
Students will track their reading minutes throughout the week, with a maximum of 420 minutes per day. While a maximum of 120 minutes can come from school hours (including classroom reading time), remember that weekend minutes won’t be counted. The goal is to have fun and read as much as possible! - How Can You Help?
Families can support our readers by donating through PledgeStar, our fundraising platform. Here’s how you can help:- Visit PledgeStar.com/Solana to sign up.
- Create a fundraising page for your child.
- Share your child’s page with family and friends to sponsor their reading adventure!
- Logging Reading Minutes:
Each student will receive a reading log sheet to track their minutes at home, but remember—only minutes entered on PledgeStar will count toward the Read-a-Thon totals. Parents will need to enter the minutes to make sure they’re counted.
